A two-slot toaster with a polished stainless steel body set between cast aluminium ends. It’s the smallest of Dualit’s Classics, 26 cm long and a solid 3.5 kg, with slots wide enough for a proper slice of sourdough. You wind the timer, lower the bread, and the toast waits for you when it’s done.
Dualit has made the Classic in much this form since 1952, when Max Gort-Barten designed it for café and hotel kitchens. Each one is still assembled by hand in Crawley, West Sussex, with the assembler’s name stamped on the base, and built to be repaired rather than replaced.
